Video promotions are gaining popularity. Most of the companies are using video submission for branding and increase traffic. You tube is the most trusted and important video submission platform.

Creating videos and uploading them is not enough to gain popularity and rankings. You need to optimize the videos and channels. Now the question arises how to optimize them ?

Video Optimization:

File Name: While uploading the file the file name should be relevant and keyword rich. E.g.: if my video is on “Monster Trucks” then my file name must be “MonsterTrucks.mp4” whichever extension you choose.

Meta Tags: Like webpages every video must have a set of keyword rich meta tags. After initial keyword research relevant title, description and keywords must be written.

Category: Make sure you are uploading videos in the appropriate category, as it will help in gaining potential viewers.

Captions: Captions open up your content to a larger non English speaking or deaf audience. To add this option for your video go to video manager and click on drop down menu next to edit button you will find a caption button. Here you can upload your caption file after uploading your caption and transcript file click on sync.

Annotations: Annotations are a good way to make your video interactive. You can use them to add background information about the video or can place links to various videos, channels and create stories with multiple possibilities. Here you can place links to your other videos which you think the viewer will click, this helps in engaging and driving traffic to your other videos. By default annotations are on if you want to turn them off you can click on the button on the bottom right of the video player.

Channel Optimization:

About section is a best medium to tell the users more about channel and what information they can find. The about section must contain a small yet descriptive text don’t write big article.

On your channel place link to all your social profiles like Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and website URL.

On the home page of the channel you can place 20 URL’s of your choice along with custom titles. You can choose your top videos and place here.

Right hand side of the channel is for featured playlist and other channels. You can add videos or channels you think users might like.
